September 19, 2026

High Impact President Dominic Benedict Santos-Viola Faustino was recognized by the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO) Bulacan for his contribution to the SINEliksik Bulacan Heritage Book during the 4th SINEliksik Bulacan Conference on September 14, 2026, at Valencia Hall, Bulacan State University in Malolos.

With the theme β€œAlagad ng Sining na Bulakenyo. Dangal ng Lahing Pilipino,” the conference brought together individuals and groups involved in preserving and promoting Bulacan’s history, arts, and culture.

As part of the conference, PHACTO Bulacan presented SINEliksik Bulacan Heritage Book Vol. IV, which is a collection of stories featuring the lives and contributions of notable Bulakenyos. One of them is Carlos Santos-Viola, HIP Dominic’s grandfather.

HIP Dominic’s accolade is a result of having co-written the said book, giving tribute to his grandfather who was born in San Miguel, Bulacan.

Carlos Santos-Viola was among the country’s prominent architects from the mid-1930s through the late 20th century. He was known, among other works, for designing Iglesia Ni Cristo churches from the post-World War II period through the succeeding decades.

HIP Dominic became part of the project through Pamana de Mayumo, a heritage and cultural group based in his grandfather’s hometown of San Miguel.

Writing about his grandfather also came with its own challenges. The article had to be written in Tagalog, while covering a period when Spanish and English were also commonly used.

β€œSince his time is during the Spanish era up until the ’80s, I had to mix Tagalog, English, and Spanish in my article,” HIP Dominic shared. He said that although writing in formal Tagalog was challenging, his familiarity with the three languages helped him complete the article.

The recognition was also a new experience for HIP Dominic as a writer. β€œAlthough I already knew I would be receiving an award, it’s my first time to get one through an article that I wrote for an educational book,” he said.

The conference also featured Virgilio S. Almario, one of the country’s National Artists for Literature, as guest of honor.

For HIP Dominic, being part of the SINEliksik publication is an opportunity to introduce younger Bulakenyos to people from their own province and the contributions they have made.

He also sees the project from the perspective of his role as a Rotarian. β€œThis is important for me as a Rotarian because it gives me another avenue to reach students by allowing me to introduce an architect who was born and is a native of their province,” he said.

For HIP Dominic, sharing these stories with younger generations also reflects the Rotary year’s message of Creating Lasting Impact. β€œMaking the lessons reach every generation of today and tomorrow is a way to create lasting impact,” he added.β—Ύ
