📣 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | ReCASC Supports International Cultural Exchange for Kuya Center Children

July 03, 2026

In a meaningful celebration of friendship, culture, and service, the Rotary E-Club of All Star CAMANAVA (ReCASC) joined the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong and its sister club, the Rotary Club of Pudu Malaysia, in an international service project that promoted cultural appreciation and language learning on July 3 at Kuya Center in Cubao.

Kuya Center is a learning center that provides free education, values formation, and life skills programs for homeless and disadvantaged children, helping them build brighter futures through holistic development. The activity opened with vibrant cultural performances sponsored by ReCASC, featuring a traditional Lion Dance and Wushu exhibition by selected students of the Philippine Malabon Cultural Institute, Inc. (PMCI). The performances introduced the children to the rich traditions of Chinese culture while creating an atmosphere of excitement and appreciation.

To further deepen the cultural experience, the children participated in a Basic Mandarin Language Appreciation session facilitated by Teacher Diether Pilapil from PMCI. Through interactive lessons and engaging activities, the participants learned simple Mandarin greetings and expressions, fostering curiosity and cross-cultural understanding. The session was also witnessed by fellow Rotarians who joined virtually via Zoom.

Following the cultural presentations, the delegation from the Rotary Club of Pudu, Malaysia, shared a taste of their heritage by preparing one of their signature Malaysian soups, Bak Kut Teh, for the children, Kuya Center staff, and guests. The delegation also distributed packed meals from a Chinese restaurant, further highlighting the spirit of cultural exchange through food and fellowship. The program concluded with fellowship and photo opportunities, celebrating the friendships formed and the shared commitment of Rotarians from the Philippines and Malaysia to promote peace, understanding, and goodwill through service.

ReCASC extends its heartfelt gratitude to Vice Mayor Edward Nolasco for generously providing transportation for the PMCI performers, making their participation in this cultural exchange possible.

The international service project demonstrated how Rotary continues to build bridges across cultures, creating meaningful experiences that educate, inspire, and unite communities while nurturing global friendship among the next generation.
