September 30, 2026

This month of September, the members of the Rotary E-Club of All Star CAMANAVA (RECASC), led by High Impact President Dominic Santos-Viola Faustino, met with leaders from different organizations to discuss the club’s high-impact project, Project BUKLOD, which promotes Rotary’s mission towards Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Peacebuilding & Conflict Prevention; and Basic Education & Literacy.

Project BUKLOD, which stands for Building Understanding and Knowledge through Literacy, Opportunity and Diversity, derived its framework from Tulay Bata at Bahay Nakpil-Bautista, an interfaith activity initiated by the Bahay Nakpil-Bautista Foundation, Inc. in 2012.

From the roots of Tulay Bata, Project BUKLOD focuses on bringing back and strengthening the educational and community-building work of its predecessor. It aims to connect children from different backgrounds through interactive learning sessions and community activities.

Together with the Rotary Club of Plaza Miranda - Quiapo, headed by Impact Creating President Dario A. Yanto, Jr.; Chairman Maria Paz Nakpil Santos-Viola of the Bahay Nakpil-Bautista Foundation; and representatives of the Golden Mosque Madrasa, Silsilah Dialogue Movement Foundation, and Quiapo Church Interfaith Ministry, the club members addressed the needs required to set the project in motion during the first meeting held on September 5 at Bahay Nakpil-Bautista.

The meeting identified the need for volunteer teachers and project assistants, as well as modules to be used, equipment and furniture, transportation support, excursion expenses, thanksgiving activities, and other operational requirements.

Meanwhile, since the Philippine Malabon Cultural Institute, Inc. is also part of the project, it is expected to provide educators to support Project BUKLOD, along with RC Plaza Miranda - Quiapo’s own network of educators.

Bahay Nakpil-Bautista, which is known as β€œTahanan ng mga Katipunero,” is a 110-year-old national historical landmark located in Quiapo, Manila, and will serve as the venue for Project BUKLOD.

Other attendees at the September 5 meeting were PP Liza Hizon, PE Cecil Apolinario, and Adsec Bing Cabanela from the Rotary Club of Plaza Miranda - Quiapo; IPP Cristina Chua, CP Jacil Luma-as, PP Jemuel Pilapil, and PN Rhoda Dasalla from the Rotary E-Club of All Star CAMANAVA. They were also joined by representatives of the newly formed Rotaract E-Club of All Star CAMANAVA.

A follow-up meeting was also held on September 20 between ICP Dario and HIP Dominic to discuss updates regarding ICP Dario’s recent visit to Zamboanga, where he met with Fr. Sebastiano D’Ambra, PIME, an Italian missionary based in Zamboanga who authored the foundational modules and publications of the Silsilah Dialogue Movement.

One of the key recommendations brought up during the meeting was the orientation and capacity-building of volunteer teachers who will undergo training and immersion at Fr. Sebastiano’s Harmony Village in Zamboanga. The final arrangement will still depend on the availability of the selected educators, funding, schedules, and other logistical considerations.

Another meeting will be held on October 10 to specifically address the tasks delegated to each club and organization, among other agenda items. β–ͺ️
